Bowmore distillery was founded by John Simpson on the shores of Lochindaal in 1779 and was one of the first legal distilleries on Islay. The distillery operates traditional floor maltings and one of the distillery's warehouses was converted into the village swimming pool and is heated with waste heat from the distillery. Water is supplied to the Bowmore Distillery by the River Laggan

Colour: Yellow Gold.
Nose: Grapefruit, Pears becoming more floral with a hint of sweet smoke
Flavour: Big, sweet and fruity, giving way to woody smokiness
Finish: Grapefruit returns in a long finish
Comments:  Fruitiness beautifully balance by background smoke

Nose: Fruity, woody with a creamy sweetness.
Flavour: Sweet fruits cream and a trace of wood.
Finish: Orangey, creamy and oaky.
Comments:  Fruitiness is youthful and woodiness shows maturity.

Nose: Smokey, peaty, salty air, slightly fruity
Flavour: Light, sweet then dry
Finish: Light, dry oak. Smokey with a touch of salty sea air
Comments:  Wonderful example of all that’s good about Bowmore!

Nose: Big fudgey nose with medicinal notes emerging.
Flavour: Lots of fruity and smokey notes follow initial creamy
Finish: Very long lasting – smokiness builds
Comments:  A fruity toffee dram.

Nose: Full on cream and toffee, with germolene background.
Flavour: Citrus fruits, sweet perfumed smoke. Medicinal.

Nose: Lots of fruit giving way to soft salty peaty notes.

Comments:  Simply a stunning dram.

Nose: Full on syrup fruits, intense exotic fruits.
Flavour: Thick, syrupy, chewy fruitiness with a lick of smoke in the distance.
Finish: Smoke develops with time but a real fruit monster.
Comments:  What more could anyone want?

Colour: Pale Gold.
Nose: Grassy – Light Peat Smoke and Coastal.
Flavour: Sweet heather and peat smoke.
Finish: Dry Grassy with developing smoke.
Comments:  A wee cracker.

Colour: Pale Gold.
Nose: Custard creams and burnt ashy notes.
Flavour: Big, lotes of tarry smoky notes and typical Bowmore sweetness.
Finish: Lots of smoky ash notes and again creaminess.
Comments:  This is a big dirty Bowmore - I like it!
